While being overcast and raining the crowds at Peterhoff were massive.
You can tell the Dutch in this photo as they're the ones laughing.
iPhone 4s video Awesomeness ftl
Looking from the sea-ish towards the main palace
Zoom of the palace and some of the fountains
The ceiling of the Russian restaurant we stopped in after our palace tours
Knock off soda fridge (Peps - Cola) Russian Champagne (not sure what's worse, this or their beer)
Starting off with the vodka, moving onto the champagne then finishing with some funky Russian beers. The food wasn't actually too bad but I thought it better at the Pushkin cafe in Moscow.
I wonder if they sell Russian country restaurants in a box like they do Irish pubs?
You can almost see the fountains over the people
The one in blue is Jana the Czech casino dealer/tour escort, it looks like some passengers weren't the only ones to ignore the weather report.
I guess they don't get a lot of tourists around here, or just don't care.
Welcome to the Hermitage
I think someone passed a law that 95% of public rooms must have been done in white with yellow gold
Interesting lamp design, at least they can wire for electricity
Need to add legitimacy to your rule? Take the Roman eagle, add another head to it and name yourself after Caesar (Tsar/Czar/etc...). Also buy lots of Roman-esque statues
This must have been the servants staircase ;)
I wonder who had the job of keeping that clean back when people smoked in here
It must've take a small or medium sized army just to keep the place clean, or did it not look this good when it was inhabited?
So the chandelier does match the lamps (or were they sconces?)
It may be pretty but it sure isn't practical
They seem to have a thing for vases
That doesn't look very comfortable for long stretches
A close up of the throne
Lookout, it has the holy hand grenade of Antioch!
For the Hermitage, this is empty
I think there can be such a thing as gold overload
Again borrowing from the Romans
skylight, sky bright
